Home Assistant

Home Assistant is the hub everything else in the house reports to, and these five posts are what it took to get it there — with one constraint that shapes all of them. I do not run HASS OS or a supervised install. It is a plain Docker container on a home server, which means no add-ons, no Supervisor, and a fair number of guides that simply do not apply.

So: reading an InfluxDB that lives outside Home Assistant as a sensor, because the add-on route was closed. A Lovelace view rendered to an image for an e-ink display on the wall. An MCP server connected to a local LLM, which is the newest post here and the one most likely to still be accurate. And one bug report: a single malformed calendar entry taking the calendar integration down for a whole day, which is the kind of thing you only find because it happened to you.
