I wanted a local model to summarise my German diary entries without changing what happened. Comparing Gemma and Qwen on synthetic tasks gave me a close result; checking their weekly reviews against my actual notes made the differences much clearer. It also changed how I assigned the work: the model I preferred as a writer was not the one I preferred as a critic. That post includes the scores, the errors I found, and the time each stage took.
The other posts here are about connecting models to something useful. LM Studio needed a bridge before it could talk to Home Assistant’s MCP server. FDDB-Exporter gained an MCP server so an assistant could work with my nutritional diary. An OpenClaw skill used a separate service for YouTube summaries after direct transcript access failed from a VPS.
These are accounts of particular setups and the problems I ran into with them. A working connection does not guarantee a useful answer, and a fluent summary still needs checking against its sources. Start with the diary comparison for output quality, or the integration posts for the plumbing.
